TMJ and joint dysfunction
TMJ and joint dysfunction
Many headaches or earaches have their origin in an unbalanced bite or in a pathological joint, often caused by bruxism (rubbing or clenching the teeth) at night. Common symptoms are noises or clicks when opening the mouth in the articular area, located just in front of the ears. You may also notice toothache or jaw pain in the morning.
To treat these alterations it is necessary to balance the occlusion and many times the use of an unloading plate (a custom-made removable hard and transparent acrylic oral template) is necessary, thus offering relaxation of the masticatory muscles and the articulation.
